The Lactulose plant Società Chimica Mugello (SCM) in Vicchio del Mugello is located near Florence, Italy. It was founded under the name of Inalco in 1984 and has long-standing experience in the manufacture of the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) Lactulose Liquid and Crystals.

The facility is a modern and up-to-date production site of highest quality standards, continuously improving its production performance. SCM was acquired by Fresenius Kabi in 2008, continuing its reliability and persistent high production quality also under new ownership.

Società Chimica Mugello is the only plant in Europe to manufacture Lactulose Crystals according to EP specification. The production process for Lactulose Crystals is also approved by the US FDA. The inimitable high purity and quality of these Lactulose Crystals account for the particular position SCM takes in markets all over the world.
